Abstract (EN)
Games are events as old as human history and they mediate in the transfer of cultural items by being transferred from generation to generation. In addition to having fun, children are included in the curriculum as a part of their education. Traditional games played in physical education and sports classes help children move away from digital games and develop physically, psychologically, motorically and socially. Motoric features that make up an important part of their development include elements such as speed, flexibility, strength and coordination. Since there are movements associated with these features in the content of traditional games, the aim of our study is to determine whether the traditional games applied in the physical education lesson of individuals aged 11-13 have an effect on the determined motoric skills. Siirt Sancaklar Secondary School was chosen as the universe within the scope of the research. There are 30 women and 30 men between the ages of 11-13 in the sample determined on a voluntary basis. In accordance with the pretest-posttest method applied, experimental and control groups consisting of 30 people were formed. Each group includes 15 female and 15 male students. Before starting the applications, pre-test measurements of the students were made and recorded. Five different traditional games determined were played to the experimental group students once a week for 8 weeks and for two lesson hours. At the end of the period, the post-test measurements of the students were made and recorded again. The obtained data were analyzed with the SPSS25 package program. In the analyzes made, a significant difference was found in both the experimental and control groups in the pretest-posttest data of weight and height measurements. When the difference totals are evaluated, there is no significant difference. No significant difference was found in the coordination feature in both the experimental and control groups. In addition, it was determined that there was a significant difference in the experimental groups in the flexibility and speed pretest-posttest results, while there was no significant difference in the control groups. The findings were compared with a limited number of literature studies and tried to be supported with recommendations.
