Examining the 6th grade Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge textbook prayer unit according to gagne's teaching principles and kohlberg's moral development stages

Religious and moral education is important for individuals to recognize and develop their culture and to live more productively and effectively in society. In order to prevent the raising of a generation far from religious and moral values in our country, religious education is needed both through non-formal religious education and at all levels of formal education. In order to meet this need, Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge courses are given at all levels of formal education. In this respect, the textbooks prepared in order to reach the goals aimed in formal religious education are important. Because textbooks are one of the indispensable tools of the education system and the most used material as learning-teaching tools. Textbooks constitute a concrete reflection of the abstract aims of education. The learning field of 'Worship', which is especially important in the religious literature, is included in the textbooks in formal education. In the research, it was emphasized whether the textbooks used in Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge courses were prepared by considering Gagne's teaching principles and Kohlberg's moral development stages. Therefore, the aim of the research is to examine the 6th Grade Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge textbook, unit "Prayer"; in terms of its suitability for teaching principles and moral development stages. In the study, the document analysis method was used in the scanning model on the unit 'Prayer'. As a result of the research, it is seen that the unit 'Prayer' has been prepared in accordance with Gagne's teaching principles to a large extent, but there is no leveling in accordance with Kohlberg's moral development stages in the unit. However, it is seen that information and parables are included in the content of the unit in order to contribute to the moral development of the students. In the literature research, it is seen that various textbooks have examined in terms of content, but these studies were not done for every textbook and unit.
