Abstract (EN)
Values education begins in the early stages of life, and this education is influenced by society, media, friends, playgroups. The role of the school here is to consolidate and improve the values that the child receives, and to help them build their own values. Values cover certain principles, rules, certain standards that are perceived as good or terminal behaviour, and are often long-term standards or principles that are used to determine the value of an idea or action. Teaching materials are important components for the behaviors and abilities that the student desires to achieve in order to meet the standards of success, and for the values and information to be learned. At the same time, instructional materials are also effective in the whole curriculum for the acquisition of expected and desired learning goals. The Living Values Education program, which emerged in 1995, aims to provide teaching materials that include the facts, concepts, principles, policies, processes and ethics that pupils need in their lives freely to learn and learn individually in society. These universal values should clearly be kept above all religions, cultures and traditions, and if all the people of the society are members of different segments, the different cultural backgrounds must play a unifying role among the others. As a result of the cultural differences between the societies, a common communication tool, language, should be on an effective position. In order to be world citizen, a person must speak a foreign language, understand that language and write in that foreign language. English, which is widely known and spoken in the world and at the same time a communication preference in developed societies, is undoubtedly a powerful tool in building bridges between cultures. The purpose of this study is; to determine to what extent the texts of reading and listening in English textbooks contains national and universal values and the distribution of these values according to the texts in these books.
