Abstract (EN)

It is possible to accept the tangible state of hospitality, one of our cultural values, to be an equivalent of village chambers. The doors of village chambers which are located near the houses or yards of villagers are always open for travelers to spend the night. Besides public architecture, village chambers have developed a sense of responsibility, rule and behavioral state in most areas such as culture, art and education. In this context, the present thesis study was prepared to contribute to the sustainability of village chambers which bear the qualities of both tangible cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage and create an inventory related to village chambers. Within the scope of the thesis study, a total of 12 village chambers in Susuzosmaniye and Cumalı villages of Afyonkarahisar İhsaniye District were analyzed in an architectural context. As a result of a field research, it was found that some of the village chambers had gone to ruin, while some were so demolished that they had to be rebuilt and some were used for different purposes. When examining the village chambers on an architectural scale, physical condition, interior equipment, functionality and usage of the buildings were analyzed. A lack of studies and written sources on village chambers in Afyon area makes this study noteworthy. In the thesis study, it was aimed to pass our tangible and intangible cultural heritage on to the next generation.
