Abstract (EN)
In this study, the soil characteristics of the Aksaray region were evaluated by Geographic Information System (GIS) using geotechnical and hydrogeological data, obtained from 83 exploration drilling. Two important units are identified in the study area: alluvial and alluvial cone. Up to a depth of 10 meters, soil shows a generally heterogeneous profile consisting of aggregate and gravel, brown-gray color, clay, sandy-silty clay, clay-silty fine sand, loamy sand silt. The content of fine-grained soil is 55 % and coarse-grained soil is 45 %. The study area is defined as soil which is less altered, little dry, medium resistance inactive plastic unit according to Atterberg Limits test results. The average bearing capacity value of soil is 0.71 kg/cm2. The liquefaction potential of the study area was determined using the Tokimatsu-Yoshimi method. 90 % of the liquefaction safety factor varies between 0.4 - 0.8. The liquefaction risk of study area is very high. Groundwater in terms of CO2 and SO4 content has strong or very strong harmful activity degree. Kriging interpolation method was used in mapping of the soil and hydrogeological characteristics. The areas with high risk in soil and hydrogeological characteristics are found in the northwestern, western and southern regions of the city.
