Determination elements level of the commercial honeys in Aksaray city

Food safety is among the most important terms in the present days. Consumers are more interested in this term every day. Honey is a food item which we consume on a daily basis and has numerous benefits. Being frequently consumed, makes honey significant in terms of the health assessment. Honey is a rich food item due to its mineral content. Besides, honey can be exposed to heavy metal contamination because of agricultural drugs and insecticides used in the fields of environmental pollution. It is known that accumulation of heavy metals in the body cause serious illnesses. In this project, mineral and heavy metal content of honey which is sold in Aksaray markets were be examined. Element analysis results related to 13 different honey samples were found in Aksaray. In these results, SPSS 17.0 Statistical Package Programme calculated standard deviation, standard error of the mean levels and ranges of elements. In this study, they were monitored as Cd concentration 0.002-0.186 ppm, Cr concentration 0.053-0.107 ppm, Mn concentration 0.071-0.622 ppm, Fe concentration 6.973-9.820 ppm, Zn concentration 2.044-6.883 ppm, Sr concentration 0.172-1.63 ppm and Pb concentration 0.030-2.566 ppm in 13 different honey samples. These honey samples were determined in accordance with the amount of elements that showed their difference with manufacturers. Therefore, honey production firms have emerged as a result of they should pay attention to the location of the hive's honey of collection.
