The Questions of Westernization and Intellectuals in Turkey from the Perspective of Alev Alatlı

In the world where the only thing that does not change is change, societies have to keep up with these changes, and those who manage these processes are intellectually intellectuals. Just like the Turkish intellectuals in the Westernization Movement, which have influenced the entire globe.However, various ideas are produced due to the fact that human beings have many different ideas and the inclusiveness of social sciences. Whilst there are those who find westernization right, there are also those who simply dislike its content or are utterly against the idea.In this thesis, intellectuals were followed in the process through the eyes of an intellectual.In the study, primarily conceptual readings were carried out. Then, what the related concepts mean for the Ottoman State and the Republic of Turkey was investigated through the eyes of the intellectuals.Alev Alatlı's works were examined in reading and auditory ways regarding the roles played by the intellectuals in this process, and it was concluded that Alatlı has drawn a very different type of intellectual from the general opinion.
