Abstract (EN)

In the Ottoman Empire, important developments were experienced in the field of education, as in many other fields, with the Tanzimat Period and the Constitutional Monarchy afterwards. Since this period, new schools providing education in the modern sense were opened and courses were added to the curriculum of these schools according to the needs of the period. One of the courses included in these new curriculum is the epitaph course, and within the scope of this course, it was aimed to teach some private and official correspondence types, and a writing training was given according to the needs of the period. Various textbooks were also written by the intellectuals of the period to be taught in the epitaph classes. One of these textbooks is Kitâbet Dersleri, written by Ali Seydî, who teaches at many schools. In our study, this work was translated with transcription, and the content of the work, its teaching method, the concepts in the work and its language and expression were revealed. At the same time, information was given about the life and series of Ali Seydî, the author of the work. Document scanning method was used in the study. The study consists of four parts. In the first part, how the inscription-tahrir teaching was done in Ottoman schools, in the second part the transcription of the work, in the third part the parts of the work, the concepts in the work with the analysis of its content and method, and the life and works of Ali Seydî in the fourth part. This study was prepared by examining books, periodicals, articles and master's theses on the subject in order to reveal the importance of Kitâbet Dersleri in the field of writing education.
