Abstract (EN)
This study was carried out at Altındere Valley Natural Parks which is one of the most important resource values as it harmonizes natural, cultural and esthetic values. This research consists of 59 households in 21 plateaus and surveys, which each person in households, within boundaries of Altındere Valley Natural Parks filled in. End of the research, 263 households were determined in 28 plateaus. It was observed that the total population of 476 people in 140 households dealt with transhumance in August-September 2010, which is research period; moreover, it was put forward determinations about both social and economic parts of The Transhumance activities and conservation. Transhumants consist of mostly housewives and retired people which are 51-60 years old. The illiterate percentage is 42%. The Transhumance activities are done in Yomra town, Maçka town and partly in some villages in Merkez town. 91% of the proportion animal husbandry is the first placed reason for people coming plateaus. Totally 818 cattles and 808 sheep and goats were determined at 21 plateaus within boundaries of the national park. 41% of Transhumants also sell animal products. The most important issue is transportation in plateaus. 56% of Transhumants stated that they have no information about that their plateaus is within boundaries of a natural park. Resource management plans for the area, more protection and promotion of area, training people about ecological importance of the area to ensure sustainable usage and protection of natural park, the development of ecotourism activities in plateaus, the determination of transhumace and the capacity of animal husbandry are suggestions which are developed from research findings to sustain the status of conservation area and to fulfil the implementations of conversation.Key Words: Plateaus, Protected Areas, Altındere Valley National Park.
