Studies on ethnobotonic characteristics of anamur (Mersin) district

Information regarding plants utilized for ethnobotanical uses in the province of Mersin's Anamur district is included in this thesis study. In 2023–2024, it was done in 20 villages and 3 plateaus in the Anamur district for this reason. Initially, contacts were made with resource persons in these villages who might have knowledge in ethnobotany, and the information gathered was documented. Interviews with 114 resource people were conducted, and inspection materials for the plants these people provided information on were gathered. Following preparation in accordance with herbarium procedures, these samples were identified. 112 taxa from 50 families and 102 genera were identified as a result of the investigation. Among these taxa, three are endemic. The most often utilized plants are those in the Lamiaceae 13 (% 14,56), Asteraceae 12 (% 13,44), Rosaceae 8 (% 8,96), Fabaceae 6 (% 6,72). When looking at the ethnobotanical uses of these taxa; 51 medical, 49 food, 24 other (faith, fuel, cane, cleaning, toys, agricultural equipment), 13 spices and tea, 8 animal diseases, etc. Purpose use is possible. Usage parts are; aerial part 52, fruit 32, flower 13, leaf 10, root 5, wood 5, gum and milk 4, seed 3, branch 3, trunk 2, bark 2. This study is the first comprehensive ethnobotanical research conducted in Anamur district.
