Awareness of the statutory and legal obligations of emergency department physicians in Antalya

Abstract (EN)

In our study, in particular, which are institutions of potential legal problems frequently encountered by physicians who work in emergency rooms, medical and legal awareness of their responsibilities was to test the issue in an objective viewpoint. Our study, the borders of the province of Antalya city center and its special districts, government, research hospitals and university hospitals, specialists working in the emergency department, general practitioner, a research assistant doctors in relation to four clinical scenarios wanted to answer the 10 question multiple choice questionnaire. As a control group, except for Emergency Medicine, Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, other departments and applied research fellow and specialist doctors. In our study, 120 (69.4%) of the city center, 44 (25.4%) were district hospital, including 164 physicians participated. Participants at least to 1 year and up to 32 years, the average physician time was calculated as 8.25 ± 6 years. These, 54 (32.9%) were women, 110 (67.1%) males. Demographic data were analyzed, physicians completing our questionnaire, 67 (40.9%) percent single, 97 (59.1%) were married Scroll, 109 (66.5%) the paint university hospital, 27 (16.5% ) percent state hospital, 28 (17.1%) of them proved to work in private hospitals. Participating physicians, 120 (78%) were trained in the countryside, 36 (22%) were classified as the city grew up. Doctors, 53 (32.3%) were general practitioners, 19 (11.6%) of specialist physicians, 92 (56.1%) of the doctor was working as a research assistant. Over 75% correct answers to questions such as interviewers arise declined to 30%. Doctors separated the different groups, groups compared with correct response rates, a significant difference was determined. Only one question for the physician's legal responsibility and obligation to act in a question other physicians differ in terms of growing conditions have been identified and work spaces. Results of the survey, working or not working in the emergency department, clearly shows the lack of knowledge in terms of legal responsibilities of physicians in our region. In addition to the lack of information, social conditions, can affect the behavior of the physician in terms of legal responsibilities. These determinations are in the region, in terms of medical law and medical responsibilities, suggests the need for educational activities.
