Abstract (EN)
The social order that we live within consists of some discontinuities which were spread many areas. This characteristic of the life lived within creates a variety of problems in terms of predicting tomorrow from today. Anthony Giddens draws attention to a ontological security problem in our personal lives as an outcome of such widespread uncertainties in late-modern life. He names this fundamental question as one of the problems of self in the late-modern era. In addition he discusses this problem together with the institutional levels of modernity and the self's developmental process. In this respect, Giddens, in his distinctive way, tries to put forth how this problem is emerged. KEYWORDS: Discontinuities, Late Modernity, Self
