Abstract (EN)

Bamboo is a giant grass with a flexible and strength structure and a fast growth rate. With this structure, it is used for various purposes such as structural and cladding in buildings produced with conventional or modern industrial construction systems in architecture. In the literature section of the thesis, general information about bamboo material and information about the structural use of this material in architecture from academic papers and websites are given in order to be a source for those who are interested in the subject. In order to show the use of bamboo as a structural element in buildings, 12 examples of buildings built with bamboo between 2007-2023 were analysed. In the experimental part of the thesis, bamboos of Phyllostachys pubescens (Moso) species in Artvin province were subjected to bending, compression, shear and tensile tests parallel to the fibres according to ISO 22157:2019 standard in order to examine the use of bamboos grown in Türkiye as structural elements in buildings. In addition, scanning electron microscopy analysis was performed to establish a relationship between the internal structure of bamboos and the test results obtained. It was shown that the test results were similar to the values in the literature.
