Abstract (EN)

Comparing the Reading Comprehension Skills of Primary School Students In Print vs Digital Setting With the development of technology and the introduction of education, students started to read from digital devices and a type of reading appeared. With the emergence of this genre, it became important whether there was a difference between the printed and digital reading environments in terms of reading comprehension achievement and the reading environment in which the students preferred to read. The aim of this researchis to compare the comprehension skills of middle school sixth graders in the printed and digital enviroment. A causal comparison study of quantitative research methods was used in the collection, analysis and interpretation of the data obtained in this direction. The research was carried out on 397 students in the 6th grade students who were studying in the secondary schools in Ministry of National Education in the city center of Kütahya in 2017-2018 academic year. A reading achievement test was applied. SPSS t-test was applied on quantitatively obtained data. According to these results, the level of reading and paper-reading comprehension achievements of the sixth grade students in the middle school is equal. Although screen reading has been widely used in education in recent years, it has achieved a successful reading comprehension. An increase in students' reading comprehension success has made screen reading an important reading type. Keywords: Reading envirement, screen reading, what you read
