Abstract (EN)

The study was carried out to determine effects of greenhouse media, rooting media and hormones on rooting by stem cuttings of some ornamental plants. In the scope of this study, Lawson's cypress (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana (Murr.) Par. 'Ellwoodii'), bottle brush (Callistemon citrinus L.), Japanese pittosporum (Pittosporum tobira (Thunb.) Ait.), European yew (Taxus baccata L.), Japanese red-cedar (Cryptomeria japonica D.Don. 'Elegans' (Henk & Hochst.) Mast.), the leyland cypress (x Cupressocyparis leylandii (Jackson & Dallimore) Dallimore), crape myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica L.), carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua L.), Eastern strawberry tree (Arbutus andrachne L.), Chinese Weeping Cypress (Cupressus funebris Endl.), date plum (Diospyros lotus L.), Japanese privet (Ligustrum japonicum Thunb.), autumn olive (Elaeagnus umbellata Thunb.), smoke tree (Cotinus coggygria Scop.) and blue spruce (Picea pungens Engelm.'Glauca' Boiss.) species were used. As a result of effects of three greenhouse media, two rooting media and hormones, values of rooting percentage, callus percentage, root length and the number of root were determined in this study. As a result of the study, rooting success was obtained in species of C. lawsoniana 'Ellwoodii', T.baccata, C. japonica 'Elegans', x C. leylandii, L. indica and E. umbellata, but it was not achieved in other species. It was also found that Greenhouse-2 media (air temperature at 20±2°C, rooting table temperature at 25±2°C), perlite rooting media and NAA 1000 ppm treatment were more effective in terms of the rooting success.
