Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is to survey the reasons how university students, going to School of Physical Education and Sports assess their leisure time, which activities they participate in and the factors that motivates them according to different variables. 822 university students from Schools of Physical Education and Sports in the Aegean Region participated in the study. As data gathering tool, ?Leisure Motivation Scale? developed by Pellettier at all. and its Turkish adaptation, reliability and validity practiced by Gürbüz was used. Turkish version of the scale is consisted of 7 sub dimensions and 28 items. Internal consistency coefficient of the scale calculated as .80. During the evaluation of data SPSS for Windows Package Program was used. In addition to descriptive statistical methods such as frequency, percentage and cross tabulation, independent samples t test and One Way ANOVA tests were used to determine meaningful differences. As a result recreational motivation level of the participants significantly differs according to gender, academic achievement level, ways of evaluation leisure time, where they evaluate their leisure time and school department. According to age no significant difference was found.
