Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to find out the benefits of songs in teaching vocabulary to young learners of English. The research was carried out with second grade students studying at private Tarsus Toros Primary School. The study was conducted for six weeks in 2013-2014 academic year. The researcher collected the data using a researcher diary. The results of this study showed that songs are beneficial in teaching vocabulary to young learners of English. The songs used in this study were: Numbers and jobs, Animals and Abilities, Animals and Senses, If You Are Happy and You Know It, Head and Shoulders Knees and Toes, Countries and Capitals Song and Row Your Boat Song.
