Abstract (EN)

Djibouti's location in East Africa has historically caused it to encounter various foreign influences. Colonialism, in particular, has left deep and lasting marks on Djibouti's culture and design. During this period, the traditional design approach has undergone significant changes under the influence of foreign cultural elements entering Djibouti society. During the colonial period, Djibouti was controlled by different European powers. This led European colonialists to impose their own culture and leave a significant impact on local culture. The research examines in detail how magazines interact in the processes of change and evolution in design culture. It examines the contributions of magazines to design culture during the colonial periods in Djibouti's history, especially under French rule, and the effects of these magazines on the local design concept. It evaluates how the influence of colonialism is reflected in design culture, how it is transferred through magazines, and how magazines are used as a tool in this process.
