Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine parental attitudes and mindful awareness predict level of well-being in children. 357 secondary school students (198 girls, 159 boys) participated in the research. Personal Information Form, Stirling Emotional and Psychological Well-Being Scale for Children, Parental Attitude Scale, and Consciousness Scale for Children and Adolescents were used as data collection tools. In this research, independent groups t-test and one-way ANOVA were used to examine the demographic variables (gender, age, educational status of parents, number of children in the family, birth order, school type, parental coexistence) in the demographic information form. Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the relationship between the variables of well-being, mindfulness, parental attitude sub-dimensions, responsibility and acceptance, and authority and supervision. The role of parental attitudes and mindfulness in predicting well-being was tested with Multiple Regression Analysis for the main purpose of the research. The findings showed that responsibility and acceptance from parental attitudes and mindful awareness significantly predicted well-being. These two variables explained 29% of the total variance. It was also found that the variable of responsibility and acceptance was a stronger predictor than mindfulness. The results of the research were discussed in the related literature and suggestions were made for further studies. Key Words: Well-being, parental attitude, responsibility and acceptance, authority and supervision, mindfulness, child.
