determination of ampelographic characteristics of the grape varieties grown in idil district of şırnak province

This study was broadly conducted to describe according to international forms the ampelographic characteristics of the grape varieties grown in İdil county of Şırnak province in 2017 and 2018. Herein, the publication namely "Descriptor for Grape" which was published in 1983 by IBPGR, OIV and UPOV was used mostly. In addition, another publication named as "Minimal Descriptor List for Grapevine Varieties" was rarely employed. In this research, 77 ampelographic characteristics including shoot, fresh and mature leaf, cane, cluster, berry, seed properties, usage purpose and phenological properties of 20 grape varieties collected from different villages of İdil county of Şırnak province were evaluated. In addition, climatic conditions and agricultural practices are documented. Since all the varieties, the form of shoot tip is in "open", the distribution of tendrils is in "discontinuous" and prominences of seed edge are in "none" classes, these varieties are considered belong to V. vinifera L. species. At the same time, in all the varieties, it was put in "semi-erect" habitus; the situation of upright hairs on shoot/cane/node/and internode was in "none"; there were no prostrate hairs on petiol and flesh color; berry was "seeded" and it was in "striated" class on the cane surface. While the other ampelographic characters of shoot/cane, leaf, cluster, berry and seed was showing differences among the varieties, it was showed that there were variation in the same varieties even in the same vine. Grape varieties grown in the region are generally used as tablegrape, but are also used in the production of products such as raisins, molasses and churchkhela.
