Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the variation of soil properties in the burned black pine stands and their adjacent unburned black pine stands. The high and low intensity surface fires were applied to flat (% 0-10) and steep slope (% 60-70) terrains of black pine stands in the Osmancik Forest Enterprise in Çorum, Turkey. Soil respiration, soil moisture and soil temperature values were measured in 16 randomly selected plots in burned and unburned black pine stands within 3 sampling period. After the prescribed burning, the samples were taken in 4 sampling period and in three soil depth levels (0-5 cm, 5-10 cm, 10-30 cm). In order to see difference amongst the samples, variance, coefficient of correlation and regression analysis were calculated using SPSS 16.0™ statistical package program. The analysis result showed that the fire has no significant effect on soil respiration and moisture. The amount of sand and clay content in surface soil (0-5 cm depth) were decreased while that of were increased in 5-10 cm soil depth. There was no significant change in sand and clay content in 10-30 cm soil depth. Thus, there was also no significant effect of fire on dust amount. The pH level of 0-5 and 5-10 cm soil depth was increased right after the fire, and then decreased after the fourth period. The increase in pH level was gradual until the fourth period. It was found no evidence that the fire has any effect on organic matter content.
