A reading of architectural representation in the East Black Sea: Zoning activities of the Hazinedarzades

Starting from the XVI century in the Ottoman Empire, notable families, who increased their military and economic power, became a dynasty. One of the regions where noble families dominated was Black Sea region. The ruling of the Hazinedarzade family continued for a half century from the end of the XVIII century. Hazinedarzades, who established good relations with the central authority, played an important role in the development of the region by performing many zoning activities toward the needs of the region and demands of the people through the established foundations as well as their administrative and military achievements. The family realizing one of the biggest foundations in the Eastern Black Sea region was handled within the scope of the study, it was aimed to inventory the large mansions and public buildings such as madrasas, mosques, schools and fountains, and make a representation reading by evaluating the family's construction activities through their location, physical structure and architecture. In this sense, the study consists of four parts. In the first chapter, the social, economic, cultural situation and general information about the family in the period of study are included. In the second chapter, information has been given about the members of the Hazinedarzade family, the zoning activities carried out by the family were analyzed, and the data obtained about the period, location and architecture of their construction are presented. In the third chapter, the evaluations on the subject covered in the study are discussed under the different headings. In the fourth chapter, the results of the study are presented as a result of all examinations and evaluations.
