Abstract (EN)

This study is about examining the phonetics of Arabic and Persian words in Trabzon, Rize, Artvin (central, Arhavi) and Giresun dialects of the Eastern Black Sea Region. For this purpose, published studies on these dialects were determined, and Arabic and Persian words in these studies were determined. Afterwards, it has been tried to show which sounds these words have different from the standard Türkiye Turkish and what sound changes they have undergone. In the introduction section, the subject, purpose and method of the thesis are mentioned. In the first chapter, general information about dialects and dialect studies is given. In the second part, the phonology of the words of Arabic and Persian origin in the dialects of the Eastern Black Sea Region (vowel types, consonant types, phonetic events related to vowels, phonetic events related to consonants, sound events related to both vowels and consonants) are discussed in detail based on the language material at hand. Based on the data obtained in the conclusion section, the phonological features of Arabic and Persian loan words, both in the dialects of the entire region and in the dialect of a region, were determined. This thesis can be considered as a comparative dialect study in that it shows the similarities and differences between words of Arabic and Persian origin in the dialects of the same region.
