Effects of the emamectine benzoate on some biochemical parameters of Galleria mellonella

Abstract (EN)
In the present study, effects of different concentrations of emamectin benzoate (0.001µg, 0.002µg, 0.003µg, 0.004µg ve 0.005µg) on antioxidant enzyme activiteis, lipid peroxidation and total protein, lipid and carbohydrate levels of Galleria mellonella were investigated at 24, 48, 72, and 96 hours periods. Emamectin benzoate has led to significant changes on antioxidant enzyme activities. Especially highest concentration of insecticide concentration (0.005 µg) caused an increase of superoxide dismutase enzyme activity at all periods. Catalase activity was not affected by emamectin benzoate at 24h, but in the following period it was showed substantially reduced tendency at doses of 0.001µg, 0.002µg, 0.003µg, 0.004µg. Malondialdehyde levels were significantly increased depend on the dose and exposure time. Protein amount was not significantly affected by emamectin benzoate, but lipid and carbohydrate leves were significantly decreased with parallel to concentration of emamectin benzoate after the 48hrs. In conclusion, emamectin benzoate caused oxidative damage in G. mellonella by led to lipid peroxidation and change on antioxidant enzyme activity and energy metabolism.
