Abstract (EN)

The aim of this work is to present the economical importance of water which has vital place and to give information about how determining the value of water by the help of some methods which are developed considering the importance of water.According to this aim of this prepared work, firstly worldwide and then for Turkey information is given about the potential of water sources and use. In the last part, various methods about determining the value of water economically are examined.In the consequence of this work it is confirmed that water is not an abundant source, as it is supposed, on the contrary it is a scarce source which has economic value. It is determined that negative effects over water sources would cause a water crisis globally in near future and existing world order would receive negative impacts economically and politically. In addition to this it is observed that water sector in worldwide enters to a period of change and this period is supported by global foundations. It is designated that there are inadequacies in Turkey water sector. Then, it is made out that it is necessary for Turkey to be included in this period of change. Further, it is found that methods which measure users, who are depend upon cost benefit analysis which is used in determining the economic value of water, pay to willingness are not sufficient in determining the total equity of water.
