Abstract (EN)
Turkey did not participate in the war, though he felt extremely economic woes brought by the war. All the problems seen throughout the country were also seen in Eskişehir. Some of the problems were resolved in the early years of the war, but some problems continued until the end of 1945. This study aims to examine the social and cultural history of Eskişehir during the Second World War. The main subject of the research is population data, educational activities, developments in the health field, cultural elements, road and rail transport and the negative effects of the war between 1939-1945. In addition, with these studies, many institutions and official information belonging to Eskişehir were found to be incomplete or incorrect. In this study conducted between 1939-1945, mainly Eskişehir press was utilized. In addition, archive documents, parliamentary minutes and various sources were used, but the local media determined the limits of the study.
