Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect of Cyclotrichim niveum against to plasma, brain and liver oxidative stress induced by Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) and Ethyl alcohol. Fifty-six male Wistar albino rats were divided randomly. For this aim, CCl4, Ethyl alcohol, Cyclotrichim niveum and their combination groups were used. According to experimental results, the MDA levels in the groups of CCl4 and Ethyl alcohol increased when compared to the Control group (p<0.001). By the effects of Cyclotrichim niveum, the MDA levels in the combination groups decreased when compared to the CCl4 and Ethyl alcohol groups. The catalase and GSH-Px activities of CCl4 and Ethyl alcohol groups decreased when compared to the Control group (p<0.01, p<0.001). By the effects of Cyclotrichim niveum in the brain and liver tissues, catalase and GSH-Px enzyme activities of combination groups increased when comperad to the Ethyl alcohol groups (p<0.01, p<0.001). The GSH levels of CCl4 and Ethyl alcohol groups decreased when compared to the Control group (p<0.001). In all tissues, the GSH levels of CCl4 group decreased when compared to the Cyclotrichim niveum+CCl4 group. In the liver tissues samples, 16:0, 24:0, 16:1 and MUFA levels of CCl4 group was decreased than Control group (p<0.01, p<0.001). The 18:0, 24:1, 18:2, 20:2, polyunsaturated (PUFA) and W6 fatty acid levels of CCl4 group was increased when compared to the Control group. There were no statistically significant differences in fatty acid levels of Control and other groups in brain tissues. According to our experimentel results, using of Cyclotrichim niveum as a protective agent can reduce the oxidative stress occurding due to CCl4 and Ethyl alcohol in rat.
