Investigation of the relationship of relative arm and relative leg strengths and speed and acceleration of football players playing in different locations

Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between relative arm and relative leg strength and speed and acceleration in soccer players playing in different positions. The sample group of our study consisted of 30 volunteer male athletes playing in teams competing in Kır şehir 1st amateur cluster. The mean age of the goalkeeper players participating in the study was 25.50±1.73 years, height 178.00±4.69 cm, weight 81.25±7.63 kg. The mean age of defenders was 26,50±3,75 years, height 181,90±5,59 cm, weight 76,40±9,30 kg. The average age of mid fielders is 28,75±9,57 years, height is 176,25±4,03 cm, weight is 69,00±7,33 kg. The average age of striker players was 28,38±4,98 years, height was 177,25±5,85 cm and weight was 74,13±7,70 kg. The statistical analysis of the data obtained from the athletes participating in the study was performed in IBM SPSS 29.0 package program. According to the results of the analy sis, it was determined that there was a moderate positive correlation between relative leg strength and 5m acceleration (r= ,650, p<0,05), a moderate positive correlation between relative leg strength and 10m acceleration (r= ,675, p<0,05) and a high negative correlation between relative arm strength and 10m acceleration (r=-,786, p<0,05). As a result, no significant diffe rence was found between the positional variables of the soccer players participating in the study. This result is thought to be due to factors such as anthropometric structures, physical, physio logical and sports history of soccer players.
