Abstract (EN)

The objective of this study is to determine the effects of training program applied to junior national individual athletes in İzmir on their antropometric and physiological characteristics. Training program was eight week and measurements were performed before and after training. The population of the study is 30 karate and wrestling athletes who are junior nationals in İzmir. They participated in the research voluntarily. Materials and tests were applied two times, before and after the 8 week program. After the tests, physiological and physical parameters were compared based on maximum points. Demographic features of the participants were name, surname, branch, date of birth, antropometric features were height, weight, fat percentages, and physiological features were 20m running, shuttle run, vertical jump, heart beat, right left hand grip strength, leg strength. Skinfold thickness was measured by skinfold kaliper (Holtain Ltd. UK) ± 0.2mm, weights by electronic bascule with 0,1 kg precision (SECA, Germany). For hand grip tests, Takei Hand Dynamometre was used. For statistical analysis data, SPSS 21,0 program was utilized. With the help of this program, in order to determine the differences between two groups, t-test with a=0,05 significance level was applied. The significance level of the results was accepted as p<0,05. As a result of these tests for karate and wrestling athletes, there were significant differences in wieght, heart beat, vertical jump, leg strength, right hand grip strength, left hand grip strength, standing jump, 20 m. running and shuttle run(p>0,05). When some antropometric and performance tests of karate and wrestling participants before and after training program compared, it was seen that there were some differences unchanged both before and after training. It was understood that training has positive effects on physiological and antropometric characteristics and fat percentages of participants. So, this 8 week training program provided a contribution for participants' antropometric and physiological development. Besides, these tests applied to evaluate the antropometric and physiological characteristics of athletes are efficient.
