Abstract (EN)

Border trade is a type of trade between two neighboring countries in accordance with private agreements and involves nearby regions of both countries. The purpose of border trade is to revive region's economy, to increase people's welfare in region, to decrease trafficking of goods and to increase employment and prevent migration. As it is the case in the other border provinces in the East and Southeast of Turkey, the border trade creates an alternative source of incomes and therefore it has a significant role for Ağrı province, individual earnings of which is below Turkey average due to having adverse factors in terms of humane geography such as climate, geographical formations, earth and other natural factors. The range of products within the border needs to be enhanced to be able to meet the profit expectations from the border trade in Ağrı Gürbulak Border Gate and Sarısu Border Trade Center and the quota amounts needs to be increased, also the physical infrastructure and transportation problems encountered during trade activities needs to be solved.
