Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to investigate the education universe of Halide Adıvar?s novels from the first novel to the last one in a chronological way. In the first chapter of this research, the importance and aim of thesis, limitedness and sub-problems related to the main problems have been stated; and some investigations about this subject have been included. In the second chapter, the conceptual framework about the history of Turkish education and the life of Halide Edip Adıvar has been generated.In the research document review and scanning techniques have been used. The universe of the research includes the writer?s twenty-one novels published between 1909-1963. In the research sample selection isn?t preferred the whole universe is investigated. The opinions about the education in the works have been labelled, encoded; codified data have been categorized by creating a meaningful whole.At the end of the research it has been observed that the writer ensured the validity of the idea of east-west syntheses from her first novels to the last one. Some educational changes have been observed in the characters but there have been no changes in the physical features of educational institution and its methods, teacher types, student types and educational environments.While Halide Edip Adıvar in her earlier novels adopted the European education with her characters educated in Europe. In the period of the war of independence she concentrated on national education and in the later periods she featured the American education system instead of the education in Europe. The writer adopted the syntheses of east-west education system in her all novels.
