Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Investigation of The Potential Use of The Crushed Material Obtained from Harşit River (Tirebolu-Giresun) as Concrete Aggregate Aggregates are mineral-rooted materials that form 75% of concrete composition. Aggregates with such a big volume as 75% in the concrete, have a big effect on the characteristics of concrete. Therefore, the qualification of the aggregates used in concrete construction is compulsory to require current standarts. In this study, the potential use of the crushed material in Kuşkayası crushing- screening plant (in Giresun-Tirebolu) as concrete aggregate was investigated. The material obtained from Harşit River, is crushed-screening in to three different size fractions 0-9 mm, 9-15 mm and 15-25 mm in the plant. Particle size distrubition, spesific gravity and water absorption, unit weight (tight and loose), ratio of material fine, ratio of lightweight material, frost resistance, Los Angeles abrasion and point load index were caried out on these materials according to TSE standarts. Furthermore, concrete mixtures using the different size fractions of the crushed material at different cement dosages for 300 kg/m3, 350 kg/m, 400 kg/m and different water/cement ratios for 0,45-0,55-0,65 were prepared. And finally, concrete pressure strength for 28 and 7 days were measured. The results have shown that the material satisifies the requirements and could be used as concrete aggregate. Besides, concretes can be prepared to BS 30 for the measured 28 days compressive strength. It was also shown that the compressive strength of the concrete produced decreased with the increase in the water-cement ratio while it increased with the increase in the cement dosage. Keywords : Aggregates, Aggregates Tests, Concrete, Concrete Mixture, Water/Cement Ratio, Compressive Strength, Point Load Index
