Determining the relationship between patients' care dependency levels with their spiritual care requirements

The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between patients' care dependency levels and their spiritual care needs. It was made in a descriptive and relationship-seeking type. The data of the study includes patients aged 18 and over, who are conscious, have no communication problems, and voluntarily agreed to participate in the study after the explanation, who are hospitalized in the internal medicine clinics of Kırşehir Training and Research Hospital in Kırşehir city center between April and June 2023. 378 patients were included in the study. Personal Information Form (KBF), in which the descriptive characteristics of the patients were questioned, Care Dependency Scale (BBÖ) and Spiritual Care Needs Scale (SBGÖ) were used to collect the data of the study. The data obtained were evaluated in computer environment with percentage, mean, standard deviation, Cronbach's alpha, Mann Whitney U, Kruskall Wallis H, Bonferroni posthoc, t test, one-way variance and Pearson correlation analyses. The mean score of the patients on the BSI was 64.83±17.61, and the mean total score on the SBGS was found to be above the moderate level of 64.0±18.6. It was determined that most of the individuals participating in the research were 65 years of age and over, female, married, housewife, primary school graduate, and their income was equal to their expenses. The level of care dependency was highest in women, individuals with low education levels, individuals whose income equaled their expenses, and individuals with disabilities. The subscales of the SSI vary depending on the patients' marital status, education level, income level, and the people they live with. As a result, it is recommended that care and treatment be carried out comprehensively by determining the relationship between care addiction and spiritual care needs.
