The effect of erroneous solution method on the achievement of some statistical concepts of 7th grade students

This study was conducted to determine the effect of erroneous solution method on learning the concepts of line graph, mode, median and arithmetic mean. The research is a semi-experimental study model based on teaching statistical concepts with erroneous solved problems. The participants of the study consisted of 70 students from two classes randomly selected from the 7th grade of a secondary school of Ministiry of National Education in the Southeastern Anatolia region in 2018-2019 education year. Student achievement test (pre-test, post-test) was prepared as a data collection tool and used and obtanied data were analyzed using SPSS program. The results of analysis were evaluated in the light of student responses. The data obtained from t-test analysis results (p<0,05) showed that the erroneous solution method contributed to the learning of line graph, mode, median and arithmetic mean concepts. Besides the effectiveness of the solution can be evoluated by using the erreneous solution method in different subjects.
