Abstract (EN)

This study examines Hüseyin Atay's life, academic works, publications, and his approaches to the Qur'an. As a significant figure in modern Islamic thought, Hüseyin Atay developed a perspective that critiques traditional exegesis and advocates for the Qur'an as a universal guide for contemporary issues. By integrating modernist, historicist, and sociological approaches, Atay aimed to interpret the message of the Qur'an in a way that addresses current problems. This study provides information about Atay's life and scholarly career and analyzes his interpretations of fundamental concepts such as religion, hadith, sunnah, revelation, abrogation, and asbab al-nuzul. We also examine his views on contemporary exegesis issues, which include topics like women, governance, zakat, interest (riba), and retribution (qisas). The study highlights Atay's perspective that the Qur'an is not limited to historical events but serves as a guide based on universal principles. Furthermore, it explores Atay's contributions to the understanding and interpretation of the Qur'an, emphasizing his role in broadening the horizons of Islamic sciences.
