TBMM activities of Hüseyin Hacim Muhittin Çarıklı Bey

Born in Uşak on October 10, 1881, Hüseyin Hacim Muhittin Bey graduated from the civil service in 1904 and was appointed as the Staff Officer of Aydın Province, which could also be considered his own region. Since his father had served in various districts of the Aegean Region, Hacim Muhittin was familiar with this region and its structure, which would constitute one of the main points of the National Struggle, since his childhood. Indeed, this knowledge would both give him a new mission in the Greek occupation that would occur in the near future and would provide great convenience in successfully fulfilling that mission. Hacim Muhittin Bey, who started local congress activities after the occupation of İzmir by the Greeks, became one of the leading organizers of the National Struggle movement in Western Anatolia thanks to his organizational skills. After the congress activities in Western Anatolia, he joined the Last Ottoman Chamber of Deputies as Karesi Deputy in January 1920, thus beginning his parliamentary life that would last until 1950. Hacim Bey, who was honored with many awards during his long service, continued his parliamentary activities with various commission presidencies, reflecting his administrative skills. While serving in the first term of parliament, Hacim Bey was also elected first as the President of Konya Independence Court and then as the President of the El Cezire Independence Court, and he played an active role in the parliamentary activities, especially in the second term. While he was the chairman of the Memurin Trial Committee, he worked on the main agenda topics of the parliament, including the bill on giving cash compensation to those who became disabled in the War of Independence, the negotiations on the creation of the list of 150, and the duties of the chairman of the Council in the case of the Minister of Internal Affairs Ferit Bey regarding the illegal transfer of Armenians to Istanbul. Hacim Muhittin, was an active member of the Republican People's Party from its foundation and continued his membership until the end of his political life during the years when the party was in power and in opposition. Hacim Muhittin, who continued his parliamentary life until 1950, passed away in İzmir on December 5, 1965.
