The examination of the work of Ibn Berrî, hayati, eserleri ve Mesâi'l Mensûre fi't-Tefsir ve'l-Arabiyye ve'l-Meâni

Since Arabic is the language of the Qur'an, it attracted interest from almost all Muslim tribes, and it was aimed to serve this language. It is known that this language was systematized during theSadru'l-Islamperiod with the incentive of Ali. Just as in the Umayyad and Abbasid periods, this development continued in the era of the Fatimids and Ayyubids.In significant regions such as Aleppo, Baghdad, Damascus, Basra and particularly Egypt, education centers were established and many valuable scholars were trained in these centers. The education centers established in these regions during the Fatimid period mostly emphasized activities towards spreading the Shia thought while it was aimed to spread Sunni thought during the Ayyubid period. One of the valuable figures of Sunni thought born and raised in Egypt during the lateFatimid period and the early Ayyubid period is Ibn Berrial-Nahwi (d.582/1187).This valuable scholar, who was raised in the Egypt region, was regarded as one of the leading figures of Arabic language during his time and his competency and command over the language led him to serve in important positions such as first secretary and governor in Dîvân-ı İnşâ. Therefore, considering that this valuable figure, on which no detailed study has been conducted in our country, deserves to be introduced,the subject of the present study was selected as such. In the present study, the life of Ibn Berri was researched to provide a more detailed knowledge of him and introduce his scholarly personality within the context of the Arabic language. Additionally, thirty two linguistic matters discussed by himin the work titled "Mesâi'l-Mensûrefi't-Tefsîr ve'l-'Arabiyyeve'l-Me'ânî"were examined.
