Abstract (EN)

This study was designed to determine the effect of Schroth Best Practice exercises on the biomechanical properties of muscles in patients with Idiopathic Scoliosis (IS). Twenty adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis aged between 10 and 30, with a Cobb angle of 10° - 50°, voluntarily participated in our study. The MyotonPro device was used to evaluate parameters such as muscle tone, stiffness, relaxation time, creep, and elasticity before, during, and after exercise applications. In our study, participants were questioned about their age, gender, weight, height, presence of chronic diseases, age at first diagnosis, exercise habits, treatments received, use of corsets, surgical history, etc., as part of the demographic information form. The Risser sign was determined through X-ray for bone maturation and the Cobb angle of the curvature was established. To decide on exercise, the pattern of the curvature was determined according to the Expanded Lehnert Schroth classification, and the trunk rotation angle was measured with a scoliometer before and after treatment. It has been determined that each exercise affects different muscle groups and biomechanical parameters in various ways.
