Examination of ethical value perceptions ofphysical education teachers according tounderstanding of primary school students

ABSTRACT In this research, it is aimed to investigate the ethical perceptions of elementary school students regarding physical education teachers and investigate them in accordance with different demographic characteristics. A descriptive model was used in the research. Teachers' Ethical Values Scale According to Student Perception and Personal Information Form developed by the researcher were used as data collection tools. The sample group of the study is composed of 331 students who are in an educational institution in Çankaya province of Ankara and voluntarily participated in the study. Simple random sampling method was used in determining the research sample. In the analysis of the data, first Kolmogorov Smirnov test was used and the data were found to have the non-normal distribution, the study followed by frequency, percentage distributions as the statistical method. In addition, Mann Whitney-U test was used for difference analysis in binary groups while Kruskal Wallis test was for difference analysis. Of the students included in the survey, 153 (46.2%) were male and 178 (53.8) were female. Of the students, 59 (17.8%) were in the 4th grade, 86 (26.0%) were in the 5th, 36 (10.9%) were in the 6th and 82 (24.8% are in the 7th grade and 68 (20.5) are in the 8th grade. The mean scores of the participants in the Teachers' Ethical Values Scale According to Student Perception in the context of gender change do not make a meaningful difference in terms of any sub-dimension and total score. It was determined that the students included in the survey had a statistically significant difference in terms of classroom variables in terms of professional responsibility and professional competence subscales and total point averages. Accordingly, it is seen that the mean scores of grade 8 students in all subscales and scale scales are significantly lower than the other grades.
