Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to determine the effects of upper extremity sensory and motor problems and quality of life, depression and activities of daily living in stroke patients. 33 volunteer patients with upper extremity sensory and motor problems in stroke patients who were diagnosed with CVA and treated at Palestine Ahliye University (P.A.U) Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center were included in this study. Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) for assessment of patients' muscle tone, Nottingham Sensory Assessment (NSA) scale for upper extremity sensation, Fugl-Meyer Upper Extremity Scale (FMUE) for upper extremity motor functions, Functional Independence Scale (FIM) for basic activities of daily living SF-36 Health Survey (SF 36) was used for quality of life and Beck Depression Scale (BDS) was used for depression. In the upper extremity sensory and motor problems group in stroke patients, a significant correlation was found between upper extremity motor problems and depression (p= <0,001), quality of life (p= <0,001), and activities of daily living (p= <0,001). On the other hand, no statistically significant difference was found between upper extremity sensory problems and quality of life (p=0,210), depression (p= 0,197) and activities of daily living (p=0,142). It shows that there is a strong relationship between upper extremity motor problems and depression, quality of life and activities of daily living. It also shows that there is a weak correlation between upper extremity sensory problems and quality of life, depression and activities of daily living.
