Abstract (EN)
In this study, the relation between the TEOG (Transition from primary to secondary education) course grades and levels of Internet addiction of the students attending 8th class of secondary school, and the situation of their Internet addiction were scrutinized according to various variables. The universe of this study covered the students continuing their education at 8th classes of the secondary schools located in Seyhan Town of Adana Province. And the sample of this study is formed by total 417 students so as to be 187 girls and 230 boys who were selected randomly. In this study, in order to determine the students' levels of Internet addiction, the "Scale of Internet Addiction" developed by Young (1998), for which adaptation work is performed by Bayraktar (2001), and the Personal Information Form suitable to the aim of the study were used. In the analysis of the data so obtained. In the statistical analyses, SPSS 22.0 packaged software was used. By the end of the study, the following findings were reached: It was observed that, of the participants, 78.4% were those not showing Symptom (50 points and below), 21.6% be those showing Limited symptoms (50-79 points), and be those being Internet addict (80 points and above). It was observed that there is an avoidant and meaningful relation between the participants' TEOG grades in the lessons of Sciences, Mathematics, Turkish, Revolution History and Kemalizm and their Level of Internet Addiction. It was also observed that, as long as the persons' level of Internet addiction increases, a falling-down occurred in their TEOG grades in the lessons of Sciences, Mathematics, Turkish, Revolution History and Kemalizm. Similarly, it was seen that the levels of Internet addiction of the students whose levels of success in the TEOG lessons were low. On the other hand, it was determined that the participants' genders, their parents' socio-economical statutes and education levels were not effective directly on Internet addiction.
