Abstract (EN)

This study examines the sources and effects of foreign language anxiety of Niğde University Preparatory Class students. 297 students who study at Niğde University Preparatory Class participated in this study. The data was collected with the help of a Translated Turkish Version of Foreign Language Anxiety Scale by Horwitz (1986) and a personal information form. FLCAS that was designed by Hortwitz (1986) had 33 items. In the present study 32 items of the scale were used. The scale tries to identify communication apprehension, test anxiety, fear of negative evaluation and classroom anxiety of the students. The personal information form asked the students about their gender, age, preparatory class application condition, high school and if they liked studying English or not. The results showed that the students experienced moderate level of foreign language anxiety. Data indicated that there is a statistical significance between the students who liked studying English and who did not like. Key Words: Learning English, Foreign Language Anxiety
