Functionality of associations operating in the field of occupational health and safety

Occupational health and safety in working life has gained more importance especially after the industrialization revolution. Due to the development of technology, the use of new machines and tools, and the increase in workplace accidents, the need for states to take new measures in this regard has arisen. The aim of this research is to examine the functionality of the determined occupational health and safety associations, to examine the reflections of the studies to ensure occupational health and safety, to reveal the necessary elements for improving the functionality with the opinions of the associations and managers. The survey model, which is a qualitative research method, was used in the research. It contains an independent universe and an independent sample selected from this universe. The working group is occupational health and safety associations in 12 different provinces that continue their activities actively in 2023. The data of the research were obtained through open-ended answers and semi-structured interview questions collected from the participants. The data of the research were analyzed by content analysis. In line with the findings and results obtained from the research, it has been seen that the demographic characteristics of the associations, communication and problem-solving skills, support given to occupational health and safety activities, being open to ideas, taking opinions in decisions are important. It is thought that concrete steps should be taken within the framework of regulations in order to ensure the continuity of associations, and their communication with sub-units should be strengthened.
