Abstract (EN)
This master?s thesis, the subject of which is the unfinished mathnawi of Leylâ vü Mecnûn by Kâfzâde Fâizî, one of the seventeenth century Ottoman poets, includes an introduction, two main chapters, conclusion, appendices and an index. In the Introduction, it has been provided some concise information about Kâfzâde Fâizî?s life and works. The main chapters of the study consist of examination and text. In the first chapter, the mathnawi has been examined in terms of its form, language, style and content features and its story section has been compared with (only the relevant part of the story) the mathnawi of Leylâ vü Mecnûn by Fuzûlî. In the second chapter, the manuscripts used in critiquing the text have been introduced and a family tree of manuscripts has been created in order to determine the relationships among them. The critical text of the mathnawi, which is based on seven manuscripts, has been given after introducing the method employed while preparing the critical text. In the Conclusion section, the data obtained from the study have been summarized. In the Appendices, there are tables that show collectively differences of text and subtitles in manuscripts and the places where manuscripts can be found. Moreover, facsimile of a manuscript of the mathnawi and one page from other manuscripts as an example have been added to this section. In the Index, proper names found in the mathnawi have been listed.
