Abstract (EN)
This master thesis focuses on the investigation of mineralogical, geochemical and petrological aspects of surrounding of Kira Mountain in Batman region. Pliocene aged Kira Mountain basalts are classified as basanite and tracibasalts. The mineralogy of Kira Mountain tracibasalts associated with young extensional tectonic comprise plagioclase, sanidine, olivine, pyroxene and opac minerals. Compared with Karacadag basalts showing typical OIB-like asthenospheric character, Kira Mountain basalts have a character tending to enriched lithospheric mantle. Geochemical data reflect an interaction between enriched lithosphere derived magma and asthenosphere derived magma. In interplate tectonic environment crustal contamination do not played important role in their genesis and they derived from different degree partial melting of chemically heterogeneous mantle source.
