Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to examine the role of mindfulness and self-esteem in predicting resilience in high school students. The participants of the study were 482 high school students (223 female and 259 male). The data were collected through The Resilience Scale (RS)-Short Form, Mindful Attention Awareness Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and Demographic Information Form. In the study, independent groups t test was used to determine whether the average scores of the variables differed by gender, and Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the relationships between resilience, mindfulness and self-esteem. In line with the main purpose of the study, multiple linear regression analysis was used to predict the role of mindfulness and self-esteem on resilience. The results revealed that mindfulness and self-esteem were significant predictors of resilience. These two variables explained 22 % of the total variance in resilience. Also, self-esteem was found to be stronger predictor than mindfulness. While mindfulness differed by gender, self-esteem and resilience did not differ significantly. The findings of the study were discussed in the light of the related literature and suggestions were presented for further research and practice.
