Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the present study was to examine the assocaition between career barriers and their ability areas in high school students (Anatolian High School). In addition, it was aimed to determine whether the Career Barriers Scale scores of high school students differ according to the perceived socio-economic level. The research group is consist of 450 high school students (244 girls, 206 boys) studying at the first, second, third and fourth year of the Borsa İstanbul Anatolian High School in the center of Adıyaman. In order to gather data in this research, Perceived Career Barriers Scale developed by Sürücü (2011) and Self Assessment Inventory developed by Kuzgun (2014) were used. Research data was analyzed by using multi-linear regresion and One way-ANOVA procedures. Research findings revealed that the total score of career barriers did not show meaningful differences according to the level of socio-economik level they perceived. This finding led to the fact that the students in the research group did not have any influence on the perceived socio-economic level of career barriers.. According to the results of multiple linear regression analysis, it was determined that there were training and working conditions in the career obstacle sub-dimensions which predicted the points of space, verbal and numerical ability. Moreover, gender discrimination, lack of motivation and insufficient preparation, lack of talent and interest, personal problems, future of the profession and labor market constraints, family and environmental impact and the impediment to move dimensions did not significantly predict talent sub-dimensions. As a result of the research findings, students in the research group perceived the education and working conditions of the profession as career barrier..
