Investigations on educational elements in Marifetname and the opinions of Turkish teacher candidates regarding these elements

The aim of this study is to identify the educational elements in Marifetnâme and examine the opinions of Turkish teacher candidates regarding these educational elements. In this study, which is conducted according to the mixed method, both qualitative and quantitative data were gathered according to the purpose of the study. Firstly, the method of document analysis was used in the collection of educational elements in Marifetnâme. Then, by using the educational elements identified in the work, "Scale Form for Assessing the Educational Elements in the Marifetname According to the Views of Turkish Teacher Candidates" was prepared. This questionnaire was applied to 468 Turkish teacher candidates who were educated in the Department of Turkish Language Teaching of Education Facvulty in Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University during 2016 - 2017 academic year. The qualitative data obtained at the end of the study was subjected to content analysis method while quantitative data were subjected to descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, independent sample test, ANOVA analysis and qualitative factor analysis tests. At the end of study, it has been determined that the educational elements in Marifetnâme are mostly social and have a content about human life. Many of these elements have reached the conclusion that there is a contradiction in modern education understanding and that these educational ideas can be evaluated in the context of learning and developmental psychology. It has been determined that a significant majority of the Turkish teacher candidates are involved in the educational opinions given by İbrahim Hakkı in Marifetnâme and that these educational perspectives still maintain their validity and up-to-date today.
