Abstract (EN)
Cancer means uncontrolled growth of cells in any region of the body. Today, cancer risk factors are increasing rapidly. The risk of getting cancer is increasing day by day. The most common type of cancer in women is breast cancer. Zinc, one of the heavy metals, is found in natural sources and in high amounts in basic food sources. Zinc prevents the antioxidant and apoptotic gene P53 from being inactivated as an oxime. It also constitutes a functional component of various proteins that contribute to gene expression and regulation of genetic activity. Cadmium toxicity is a high element. In the environment, cadmium with a concentration ranging from 0.1 to 1 ppm is primarily present with zinc. Although the mechanism of cadmium genotoxicity is not fully known, it has been reported that 50-60% chromosomal damage is caused by the investigations. In this thesis study, it was aimed to investigate the basic mechanism of exposure of heavy metals to apoptosis, drug resistance, cytochrome p450 genes, heavy metal stress genes in cancer and normal breast tissue. Within the scope of the thesis study, the effect of heavy metals on breast cancer and normal cell lines was studied at gene expression level. The obtained data demonstrate the cellular and molecular effects of Cadmium and Zinc on breast cancer carcinogenesis and emphasize the importance of investigating its effect on breast cancer.
