Abstract (EN)

Stamp seals were first dated to BC. It originated in settlements in Syria in the 8th millennium BC. These objects have the ability to reproduce the motif on another surface by pressing them more than once. The earliest stamp seal finds in Anatolia date back to it is seen in the 7th Millennium BC, during the Pottery Neolithic Period. Stamp seals, most of which were made up of Çatalhöyük finds, were found in 13 settlements in Central Anatolia, the Lake District and Western Anatolia. When the publications and thesis studies on Neolithic period stamp seals are examined, it is understood that they are limited to a settlement or a region, and that they do not have the quality to cover the whole of Anatolia. Despite the publications in which stamp seals were studied as a whole in the Near East and Balkan geographies, a study of this nature was needed for Anatolia, which is between these two regions. In this study, in which the published stamp seals are brought together and examined, the Anatolian stamp seal tradition has been evaluated in terms of material, handle and printing surface forms and motif typology. Comparisons were made under the Neolithic cultural regions and in general. The theories put forward about the usage areas of the Neolithic era stamp seals have been reconsidered.
